And I'm sorry for any typos.

I did not even think to use the freaking multiply to paint on top of my sketch! OMFG. I am so trying this technique! I just waved bye bye to my sketch as I painted. WOW.

I'm still pretty new to Sai and I don't think I've quite figured out which brushes to use and where. I really like your style here and have been trying to give it a try... :iconcryforeverplz:

It's not turning out well.

So my first question is; which brush should I be using?! Regular brush with bristle texture and what about density?! I've played around with some brushes but my blending looks just bad. Any advice?

Your work makes me:
1. Crawl under a rock and die
2. Then get back up to become an even better artist.

I like the way you are explaining how to paint. I will try to look at this the next time I will draw =) I don't like to copy or take references but I must paint better so... sometimes we just have to throw our pride away and accept to learn things from the beginning w
you are one of my favourite artists, and I love your painting style and designs =)
I just realized I was inspired by one of your art whithout knowing it when I drew the boy on my avatar O_O I drew it just 2 days after discovering you. sorry XD!

ahh thank you for this wonderful tutorial, I've always had trouble with colour and this helps so much! You explained this so well and I've saved it in my bookmarks haha
i-Moosker Featured By Owner Nov 10, 2013  Student Digital Artist
Ah, you make it look so easy... But it's definitely not so easy at all.

I think the hardest part would be to make the lineart disappear flawlessly into the drawing...
Sol4rpleXus Featured By Owner Nov 10, 2013  Hobbyist Writer
Hmm I always prefer to put the outlines layer ontop and make it multiply. I found that it works a lot better this way because then I can make single layers for each color, which again makes it easier to change things afterwards.

this makes so much sense to me, thank you
kupocchi Featured By Owner Sep 24, 2013
Ah it makes sense to block in shadows over everything first. I often paint shadows in as I go through individual steps (hair, face, clothes) but doing it all together seems a lot more efficient. Your mark making is so confident, I hope to be able to paint like this with enough practice! Thanks for sharing your process.
